[Podcast] What if Digital Could Outsmart Climate Change? An Interview With Kristine Swan, Bayer

Kristine Swan, VP, Global Head of Digital Transformation, Bayer Crop Science

In our latest podcast episode, Jim talks with Kristine Swan, the VP of Digital Transformation and IT at Bayer Crop Science, for a conversation that’s as rich and fertile as the soil our future depends on.

Kristine brings a personal touch to the digital revolution in agriculture, drawing on her roots on a Missouri farm. With her at the helm, Bayer is not just sowing seeds but also sowing data – data that empowers farmers across the globe to tackle pressing challenges like climate change and sustainability.

Data-Driven Decisions: Kristine illustrates how farmers are leveraging data from platforms like Climate FieldView to make over 40 critical decisions each season. This technology offers more than insights; it’s a digital ally in the field, helping farmers navigate the uncertainties of weather, soil, and crop health.

The Carbon Credit Marketplace: Perhaps the most groundbreaking revelation from Kristine is the role of carbon sequestration in agriculture. Farmers are now at the forefront of climate action, using no-till farming and other techniques to trap carbon in the soil. By quantifying these efforts, Bayer’s digital platforms are opening doors to new revenue streams for farmers through carbon credits – a true testament to innovation benefiting our planet and those who cultivate it.

A Vision of the Future: What stands out from the conversation is the potential of precision farming. Kristine’s narrative isn’t just about technology; it’s about a vision where every seed can make a difference, where smart agriculture is not an exception but the norm.

This episode is not just for those in the agri-tech sphere. It’s for anyone curious about how tradition and innovation mesh and how together they can yield a sustainable future.

Don’t miss the full conversation with Kristine Swan, available now. As you listen, remember that every byte of data and every kernel of corn are parts of the larger ecosystem we’re all a part of.
