Planbox is a day late, which is in and of itself a cause for celebration.

Wilmington, Delaware — Planbox is pleased to announce that it failed to celebrate failure on the official day for celebrating failure (October 13th), known globally as the “International Day for Failure.” The holiday originally started in 2010 as a student initiative at Aalto University in Finland to encourage risk-taking in the business world.

To get into the spirit of failing, Planbox launched a “Celebrating our Failures in 2022” challenge that invites members of the Planbox community to share their biggest failures in the last year. The goal is to discourage aversion to failure and the stigma associated with it, and instead promote a culture of innovation that embraces creativity, risk-taking, and learning. “We all make mistakes, but what differentiates a good mistake from a bad one is how we turn it into an opportunity for learning, and make out of it something even better than what we originally planned,” said Sara Husk, Chief Customer Officer of Planbox.

As one of the core tenets of the Manifesto for Future-fit Organizations goes: “Future-Fit processes promote sustainable growth and development. Everyone can fearlessly contribute and change pace given the context.” Ultimately, it’s an opportunity for leaders to galvanize a collective mental fortitude where everyone can work together on innovation in pursuit of a better future without retribution for taking any wrong turns along the way.

“Experimenting, failing, learning, and doing it all over again with a new perspective is what innovation is all about. As innovators ourselves we hope to inspire confidence, in anyone involved in innovation, to not lose sight of the big picture in spite of any setbacks they might run into. Innovation is a two-way street, and real changemakers are those that look backward for motivation and forward for inspiration,” said Husk.

A common challenge is how to extract value from failures in a way that encourages company leaders to continue funding forward-looking experimentation and exploration.
