We have recently discovered the first-ever evidence that attackers are exploiting Kubernetes (K8s) Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) in the wild to create backdoors. The attackers also deployed DaemonSets to take over and hijack resources of the K8s clusters they attack. Our research suggests that this campaign is actively targeting at least 60 clusters in the wild.

A couple of weeks ago I watched a fascinating Zoom call hosted by Xu Hao , Thoughtworks's Head of Technology in China. He showed an example of how he uses ChatGPT to help him code in a self-testing style. His initial prompt primes the LLM with an implementation strategy (chain of thought prompting). His prompt also asks for an implementation plan rather than code (general knowledge prompting).

To meet the rapidly growing demand for its cloud services, Oracle has announced plans to open a third public cloud region in Saudi Arabia. Located in Riyadh, the new cloud region will be part of a planned $1.5 billion USD investment from Oracle to expand cloud infrastructure capabilities in the Kingdom. The new region in Riyadh will join Oracle’s existing cloud region in Jeddah and a planned Oracle cloud region in the new city of NEOM.

It has now been over a year since Russian forces invaded its neighbor to the west leading to the largest conflict in Europe since World War II. In the past year, we have used Kentik’s unique datasets to show some of the conflict’s impacts on Ukraine’s external internet connectivity, ranging from DDoS attacks and large outages , to the rerouting of internet service in the southern region of Kherson.

Recent discussions with my colleagues showed that many software teams still run into trouble because they pack too much planned work into their iterations. Teams will usually run better when they have deliberate Slack , as it allows their delivery to be more predictable and gives them time to improve their environment. Clear Street , which says it is building “modern infrastructure” for capital markets, has raised $270 million in the second tranche of a Series B funding round at a $2 billion valuation. Growth equity firm Prysm Capital led the financing, which brings the round total to $435 million. New York-based Clear Street raised the first tranche of the round in May of 2022 at a $1.7 billion valuation.
