We are even inspired by the image of what that dream looks like at its fulfillment. But for some reason(s), many of us don’t pursue our dreams. One obvious thing to anyone living in NYC is how tourists cluster in certain areas. I was curious about the larger patterns around this, so I spent some time looking at data. The thing I wanted to understand is: what areas are dominated by tourists? Or conversely, what areas are dominated by locals? After some looking around, I found this Foursquare data dump and analyzed about 200,000 check-ins in NYC.

Much of the tech community received the report positively because the increased transparency – although it has the potential to “shame” ISPs that provide inferior service – will likely result in more competition and a better product for consumers.

'In a New York magazine article called “Life, After”, former CNN anchor Miles O’Brien shares his experience of what life has been like after losing most of his left arm a few months ago. O’Brien was on a reporting trip in the Philippines when a heavy camera case fell on his arm. What seemed like a minor injury became a major problem and his arm had to be amputated below the shoulder and above the elbow.

'By Shannon Perry. Responding to slow connectivity speeds for its online content, Netflix posted an error message in early June to alert its customers that Verizon is to blame for slow speeds. The message read, “The Verizon network is crowded right now. Adjusting video for smoother playback…” Verizon responded with a cease and desist letter demanding that Netflix stop sending the message and demanding proof of Verizon’s responsibility for the slow speeds.

Long time readers of this blog know that I am not a fan of Snyder. Back in 2009, I wrote a rant/takedown on his leadership style that, to my surprise, landed me on TV. I am sorry to report that not much has changed since then including his insistence on sticking with the offensive name of his team.
