Barcode is a method of representing data in a visual, machine-readable form. In other words, we can say a barcode is a way to encode information in a visual pattern that a device (a barcode scanner) can read (those black lines and white spaces). It represents data by varying parallel lines in width and distance.

First attempt: the barcode. My first idea was to use the barcode that’s on the label. However, I quickly discovered that a barcode doesn’t contain the same kind of data as you have in QR codes. These numbers are intended to query private carrier APIs to fetch the parcel’s details. Second attempt: the OCR.
