Generative AI such as ChatGPT has of late captured the imagination of business leaders across industries. While enterprise IT orgs by and large are taking a measured approach , some early movers are showing impressive results. CarMax’s IT team, for one, has been working with Microsoft and OpenAI to leverage GPT-3.x for business value even before ChatGPT became a household name.

Rapid (previously known as RapidAPI), a startup that built out an API marketplace valued at $1 billion last year, has laid off another 70 employees less than two weeks after letting go of 50% of its staff , TechCrunch has learned. An affected employee who wished to remain anonymous told TechCrunch that just 42 people remain at the company — down from 230 in April — reflecting an 82% drop in headcount.

Shares of edtech company Chegg fell off a cliff this week after the company reported Q1 results that bested analyst expectations. But Q1’s results aren’t what made the company lose nearly half of its value. In its earnings call the company’s executives noted that ChatGPT was slowing its ability to add new subscribers, not only potentially slowing its growth but also throwing uncertainty into its ability to predict its future financial results.

Citus enables several different PostgreSQL use cases, but one of the most popular ones is to build scalable multi-tenant software as a service (SaaS) applications. The most common way to build a multi-tenant application on Citus is to distribute all your Postgres tables by a “tenant ID” column. That way rows are (hash-)distributed across nodes, while rows with the same tenant ID value are co-located on the same node for fast local joins, transactions, and foreign keys.

Netherlands-based Instruqt has a product allowing companies to more easily test how a new software would run inside their organization. After bootstrapping its way to growth, it has now raised €15 million in a Series A round led entirely by Blossom Capital. It’s much easier to sell a software product into a company if they can see how it will run inside the organization in a live manner.

Multi-tenant architecture allows software vendors to realize tremendous efficiencies by maintaining a single application stack instead of separate database instances while meeting data privacy needs. When you use a data warehouse to power your multi-tenant analytics, the proper approach is vital.
