This glossary will clarify some of them. YAML was long held to stand for “Yet Another Markup Language,” and while the official version now is that it stands for “YAML Ain’t Markup Language,” the distinction is to me unclear. YAML files are more readable than XML and eschew most punctuation in favor of whitespace.
