Matching Algorithm

SoCal CTO

Because I was the Acting CTO for eHarmony at it's start, I quite often get introduced to people who have an idea for a startup company that is based on some kind of matching algorithm. They describe the company as the eHarmony of careers, clothes, jobs, college, tutoring services, doctors, service companies, investments, etc. In fact, you can get a good idea of these various things by just searching on Google for "eHarmony of" startup.

The Singular Secret of the Rockstar Programmer

Code Simplicity

Before all the laws of software , before the purpose of software , before the science of software design itself , there is a singular fact that determines the success or failure of a software developer. This fact makes the difference between the senior engineer who can seem to pick up new languages in a day and the junior developer who struggles for ten years just to get a paycheck, programming other people’s designs and never improving enough to get a promotion.

DSLs In Action - Updates on the Book Progress

Ruminations of a Programmer

DSLs In Action has been out for a month now in MEAP with the first 3 chapters being published. DSL is an emerging topic and I am getting quite some feedback from the readers who have already purchased the MEAP edition. Thanks for all the feedback. Writing a book also has lots of similarities with coding. Particularly the refactoring part. The second attempt to articulate a piece of thought is almost always better than the first attempt, much like coding.
