Predicting solar eclipses with Python

As I am en route to see my first total solar eclipse, I was curious how hard it would be to compute eclipses in Python. The package Astropy turns out to have about 80% of the stuff I wanted, in particular making it quite straightforward to compute the position of the sun and the moon in the sky. separation(sun) return sep.
